the cost of beauty: research and media project
developed as part of a media studies project, this body of work explores how the beauty industry profits from insecurity in the digital age. using a combination of research, analysis, and creative media production, I examined the ways beauty standards are marketed online and how social media platforms contribute to cycles of comparison, consumption, and self-surveillance.

am i pretty yet?
image/text project
Am I Pretty Yet? is a Photoshop-based text/image project exploring how media and social media influence women’s self-perception and confidence. By blending imagery of cosmetic surgery, swimsuit models, and social media, the piece examines the pressure to meet unrealistic beauty standards and the constant question of whether we are “pretty enough.”

get ready with me: the hidden cost of beauty
interactive project
The Cost of Beauty is an interactive 3D “Get Ready With Me” experience exploring the hidden costs of beauty culture and the marketing strategies behind everyday beauty products. Through an interactive vanity filled with clickable hotspots, users explore questions, advertisements, statistics, and product comparisons that reveal how beauty brands sell more than just products—they sell lifestyles, identities, and ideals.

the algorithm made me buy it
social media project
The Algorithm Made Me Buy It is a short-form social media video exploring how beauty culture and TikTok-style content can fuel insecurity and consumerism. Designed to mimic an actual scrolling experience, the video becomes increasingly fast-paced and overstimulating through rapid cuts, layered audio, and visual effects before shifting into a reflection on beauty marketing and self-care. The piece ends with the reminder: “You’re not ugly, you’re just being sold something.”
